The moment of truth arrives tomorrow (December 11th 2024) for local adventurer, Vic Handley. At 7:50 AM UTC, he sets off on a solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, participating in the gruelling World's Toughest Row. Sponsored by Power & Control, the 70-year-old former company director is poised to become the second-oldest person to ever conquer this incredible test of human endurance.
We are immensely proud to support Vic in his daring quest. Vic's unwavering determination and sheer courage perfectly mirror the spirit of innovation and resilience we champion at Power & Control. We firmly believe in pushing boundaries and striving for a brighter future, and Vic's journey embodies the extraordinary power of the human spirit to achieve the seemingly impossible.
Handley's 3,000-mile odyssey begins in San Sebastian, La Gomera, in the Canary Islands, with the finish line at Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua. He'll face towering waves, relentless sleep deprivation, and the full force of nature's fury, armed with only his own strength and unwavering willpower.
Vic's commitment to this challenge is truly inspiring. His journey serves as a powerful reminder that it's never too late to chase our dreams and leave a positive mark on the world.
Adding to the emotional weight of the event, Vic's daughter and Our Office Manager, Sasha, shared her perspective from La Gomera:
"Since arriving on the island a few days ago, it's been a whirlwind of intense preparations, both logistical and emotional. Attending the family briefings has given me a real sense of the challenges ahead, but it's been incredible getting to know the other rowers and their families. There's such a tight-knit and supportive community here. It's overwhelming to think that in less than 24 hours, Dad will be on his way. I have no doubt he'll make us all incredibly proud."
