The Challenge
Modern homes in Derbyshire with high energy demands—including electric vehicles and air-source heat pumps—require more than just basic solar panels; they require an integrated ecosystem. This project in Duffield, Derby, involved a complex triple-roof layout, meaning the system had to be expertly designed to capture maximum sunlight throughout the day across different orientations.
The client's priority was high-density power generation, significant storage capacity, and the ability to charge their EV at speeds usually reserved for public charging stations. Our engineering team needed to ensure that despite the architectural complexity, the system delivered peak performance without compromising the home's aesthetic.
The PAC Solution
To achieve maximum yield from the available roof space in Duffield, PAC engineers installed 21 ultra-efficient Aiko 485W panels. These were secured using the ValkAce mounting system, chosen for its durability and sleek, low-profile appearance on domestic tiles. Our in-house team handled all roof works, including the meticulous installation of BirdBlocker to ensure the array remains free from debris and nesting birds, protecting the client’s investment for the long term.
The "beating heart" of this installation is the SigenStor system. We integrated a 10kW Sigen Single Phase Controller with two 8kW batteries, providing a substantial 16kWh of storage. To manage the home’s transition to off-grid or backup modes, a Sigen Single Phase Gateway was installed.
The standout feature, however, is the 25kW Sigen EV DC Charger. Unlike standard 7kW AC home chargers, this DC unit allows the homeowner to utilise their solar energy to fast-charge their vehicle at more than triple the standard speed, bringing commercial-grade technology to a residential driveway.
The Results
By combining market-leading panel efficiency with the most advanced AI-driven storage and charging technology available, PAC has provided this Duffield homeowner with total energy independence. The triple-roof string layout ensures consistent generation from dawn until dusk, producing an estimated 9,358 kWh annually.
The 16kWh battery stack handles evening loads with ease, while the 25kW DC charger provides a "Rapid Charger" experience at home. This bespoke system not only slashes annual electricity costs by approximately £1,842 but also significantly reduces the property's carbon footprint.
