Our Partnership with the Council on Void Properties

I often share updates about our large-scale commercial installations, complex industrial automation, or massive solar energy projects. While those projects are fantastic, they don't tell the full story of who we are.

The reality of the electrical trade isn't always about shiny new builds or high-tech renewable infrastructure. Sometimes, the most meaningful work requires rolling up our sleeves, getting our hands dirty, and tackling the essential maintenance that keeps our community running.

We are currently in the thick of a significant stream of work for the local council, focusing on "void properties." These are homes that have become vacant and often require extensive, gritty remedial work to bring them back up to standard. It’s a far cry from a sterile commercial site, but it is some of the most vital work we do.

Getting Back to Basics

Our goal with this contract is simple: ensure these properties are safe, compliant, and comfortable for the families waiting on the housing list.

As a company, we pride ourselves on not being "too big" for the fundamentals. We are tackling older properties that need serious attention, ensuring the electrical backbone of the local housing stock is sound.

My role involves coordinating our engineers to perform thorough EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports). Once we identify the issues, we get to work on the solutions:

• Full and Partial Rewires: We are stripping out old, unsafe wiring and installing modern, reliable systems.
• Distribution Board Upgrades: Replacing outdated fuse boxes with safe consumer units that meet current 18th Edition regulations.
• Fire Alarm Upgrades: Installing interconnected smoke and heat detection systems to ensure the highest standards of safety.

More Than Just Wires

While the environment might be challenging, the standard of finish remains high. We aren't just making these homes safe; we are making them liveable.

• Efficiency: We are installing LED Lighting upgrades to ensure these homes are bright and cost-effective for new tenants to run.
• Refurbishment: We are also managing full Kitchen and Bathroom Refurbishments. Seeing a property that has seen better days transformed into a fresh, modern home is incredibly satisfying for the team.
